Sound of the Year awards

My recording “King and Bells” was shortlisted and highly commended in the 2022 Sound of the Year Awards. Here’s a bit about the recording.

“I went to Sheffield to record the cathedral bellringers practicing to use in a lullaby concert that was coming up. I like to record night-time sounds in the locations where we perform. Sadly, in the afternoon the Queen died. I wasn’t sure whether the bells would be rung or not but stayed outside the cathedral with my recording machine running. In the distance, you can hear someone singing “God Save the King” with a band, the sound of rain, trams, and traffic are finally joined by the muffled bells with one tolling unmuffled. A unique moment in history”
